Public Transport in Saskatoon

Introduction

Saskatoon's public transportation system is based on a network of city buses.
Each route is identified by a unique number, and buses stop only at designated bus stops.

How to use the system:

  1. Wait at an official bus stop.
  2. When you see the bus approaching, slightly raise your hand to signal the driver that you wish to board.
  3. Once on board, either pay your fare or show your transit pass.

Note: You can only board or exit the bus at official bus stops.

Fares and Payment Methods

  • Cash Payment: Pay the exact fare (coins or small bills) into the fare box upon boarding. Per trip: approx. $3.00 CAD
  • Monthly Transit Pass: Purchase a monthly pass for unlimited rides. Adult pass: approx. $83.00 CAD per month.
  • Electronic Ticket: Use the Transit Go mobile app to buy digital tickets.

Cash payments: Must be made with exact change — bus drivers do not provide change. With a cash fare, you can use the transit system for up to one hour (including transfers to other buses).

Transit Go Mobile App

Transit Go is Saskatoon's official public transit app.
It lets you purchase and store tickets digitally, view schedules, and check route information.

Key features:

  • Buy single-ride or multiple-ride tickets online.
  • Store tickets within the app for easy access.
  • Check bus schedules and route maps.

The app is available for both Android and iPhone.

Installing the Transit Go app is highly recommended to manage your daily commute more efficiently.

Public Transportation Rules and Etiquette

  • Allow passengers to exit before you board.
  • Offer your seat to seniors, people with disabilities, or parents with strollers if needed.
  • Keep conversations quiet and respect the calm environment on the bus.
  • Eating and drinking are not allowed on the bus.
  • Use headphones for music or audio media.

Following public transport etiquette shows respect for other passengers and creates a pleasant experience for everyone.

Conclusion

Public transportation in Saskatoon is easy, affordable, and reliable.

By installing the Transit Go app and using a monthly pass, you can efficiently manage your daily travel needs.
Familiarity with the rules and etiquette of bus usage will help you enjoy a positive experience in your new community.
